If you’re a sexually active woman, regular STI testing is an essential part of protecting your health. Many sexually transmitted infections (STIs) do not show symptoms right away, but they can still cause long-term health issues like infertility, chronic pain, or increased risk of other infections. Regular testing helps ensure early detection and treatment.

At First Care Clinic, we offer free STI testing for women in South Central Wisconsin. Our professional medical staff provides confidential care in a welcoming environment.

Who Should Be Tested?

Annual STI testing is recommended for all sexually active women under the age of 25, as well as women over 25 who have a new sexual partner or multiple partners. If your partner had an STI, you should also get tested.

If you have an STI, we can also provide treatment for your partner(s), as without treatment, they can reinfect you with the same STI, even after you have been treated.

Remember that infections like chlamydia or gonorrhea often have mild or no symptoms, so do not wait for symptoms before you decide to get tested.

What STI Testing Does First Care Clinic Offer?

At First Care Clinic, we provide testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, and syphilis. Depending on your symptoms or risk factors, our medical professionals may also recommend testing for trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, or herpes.

Pap smears are also available, depending on your age and screening history.

What Happens if I Test Positive?

Many bacterial STIs are easily treated, especially when detected early. However, viral STIs are not curable and may need ongoing management with antiviral medications.

If your test results return positive, our team will discuss the next steps and help ensure you get the care you need. We can provide most treatments free of charge.  We will also talk with you about protecting your health going forward.
